The Executive Committee of the Purdue Chapter of the American Association of University Professors endorses the open letter crafted by Purdue faculty and staff associated with the Purdue Center for the Environment (C4E) Building Sustainable Communities (BSC) Signature Research Area (SRA). The letter expresses grave concern about President Daniels’s recent invitation to host Dr. Steven Koonin as a presidential lecturer presenting to the Purdue community on October 19, 2021. We side with our faculty colleagues with expertise in the field of climate science to express concern about providing Dr. Koonin a public Purdue platform to sow confusion on the campus and in the broader community about the scientific consensus on climate change.
